PeopleTec Welcomes COL Michael Thome, USAR, Ret.
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - PeopleTec is honored to welcome Michael Thome to the team as a Director. Michael brings more than four decades of experience supporting the Department of Defense, specifically the US Army. On active duty, he served as an instructor in the AH-1 Cobra and AH-64 Apache and on exchange with the British Army as an instructor in the AH-1 Gazelle in Middle Wallop, UK. His vast experience has been across the Aviation Enterprise, primarily supporting the Program Executive Office Aviation (PEO Aviation) and the Combat Capabilities Development Command Aviation and Missile Research, Development, and Engineering Center (CCDC AvMC).
Michael Thome, Director
Michael was the first US Army Reserve Officer to command an active component battalion (the 1st Battalion 4th Aviation Regiment (Attack), 4th Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division) and is qualified in the UH-1 "Huey", AH-1 Cobra, AH-64 Apache and AH-1 Gazelle helicopters. He has over 3500 flight hours to include combat and numerous awards (e.g., Bronze medal, Air Medal with Valor Device, Air Medal, and numerous Meritorious Service Medals).
He served as Project Manager with the Corps of Engineers, Huntsville Center, leading Defense Environmental Restoration Program project for Formerly Used Defense Sites and Base Realignment and Closure sites across the United States. In 1997, he transitioned to PEO Aviation, where he served as the Virtual Cockpit Optimization lead engineer until his departure to re-enter active service. For the past 17 years, Michael has been a government contractor supporting Future Combat Systems, PEO Aviation, and CCDC AvMC.
Mr. Thome graduated from the University of Alabama with a major in Civil Engineering. Michael has been married to the former Selina Albright from Huntsville, AL for over 33 years with whom he has 20-year old triplets in college: Caleb, Madison, and Hannah.
