PROMOTION OF MS. JOAN SMITH TO VICE PRESIDENT

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - PeopleTec is pleased to announce the promotion of Ms. Joan Smith to Group Vice President. Ms. Smith joined PeopleTec in February 2020 as Vice President and has contributed to significant growth of PeopleTec through strategic expansion and development within the US Army Aviation domain. She will now lead her own group at PeopleTec, guiding efforts and increasing our presence in aviation programs, particularly within PEO Aviation.

Ms. Smith brings more than a decade of experience supporting DoD organizations and leading a small business. Her focus has been across aviation and missile research, development, and sustainment and includes systems and materials engineering, manufacturing, and strategy development. Prior to joining PeopleTec, Ms. Smith was President of a privately-funded small business specializing in technology development, where she established a manufacturing facility and managed commercial and defense developmental efforts. She also served as a US Army civilian for 11 years. During her tenure with the DoD, she led aviation technical programs, directed missile research efforts, served in executive leadership roles, and managed multiple programs that facilitated improvements to Army Aviation Fleet.  

Ms. Smith is a graduate of The University of Alabama with a BS in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. She also earned an MBA from Vanderbilt University's Owen Graduate School of Management.
